ABOUT ALPADRIA CHAPTER

Welcome to the AlpAdria Chapter of the Cornell Hotel Society, the alumni association of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.

We are excited at the prospect of working together to promote the interests of the Cornell Hotel School in our area, which includes the countries of Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland.

In addition to academic excellence, which has given Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration unprecedented worldwide acclaim in the hospitality industry, the close knit network of its global alumni is unique and admired by many.

The primary goals of the AlpAdria Chapter are:
- to provide a forum of educational and networking opportunities;
- to create scholarship opportunities for students and professionals in our area;
- to have fun while doing all of the above!

Your participation is important to the success of this chapter, as we will all benefit from mutual interaction and exchange. Please join us in our inaugural year at our events. (Note: when clicking on the word events, you should be taken to the events page) and check back to this website for news and developments.

We look forward to seeing you and we welcome your support.

Warmly,

The Executive Board of the AlpAdria Chapter

WELCOME LETTER FROM ALPADRIA CHAPTER PRESIDENT

Roberto Wirth ‘75

May 2007

Dear fellow Cornell Hotel School Alumni:

It is with great pleasure that I announce the formation of the AlpAdria Chapter of the Cornell Hotel Society. This new chapter of one of the strongest alumni associations today includes former Hotel School students in countries from the Alps to the Adriatic (Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, and Switzerland). Expanding the geographic boundaries of our chapter gives us the ability to involve more people, to create more programming and to better meet our goals.

I am very enthusiastic about the prospects of promoting the interests of the Hotel School in this region and creating a strong scholarship program so that younger Europeans will be able to afford the learning opportunities offered by the Hotel School at Cornell.

We are fortunate to already have a volunteer Board of Directors in place for the year 2007/2008; after which we will hold elections. Our programming committee has begun putting together a calendar of professional networking and fellowship events. Some highlights include:

November 16-18,2007 Merano (Alto Adige), Italy
Annual Fall Meeting 2007 / Host hotel: Steigenberger Hotel at new Merano Thermal Baths (with tour of famous “Palace Hotel”, tour of local wineries, South Tyrol and Italian food&wine events.) Mark your calendars!
