PRESIDENT'S WINTER 2012 LETTER
Dear Members of the CHS AlpAdria & Eastern Europe Chapter,
Happy New Year!
Following the change of our Chapter’s name (Remember? We are now called the CHS AlpAdria & Eastern Europe Chapter!), we have to adapt our logo accordingly. We are currently co-operating with a graphic designer to come up with a new logo. We will submit our proposal to the Chapter Officers by the end of January.
We are the hosts of the next CHS EMEA Regional Meeting, which will take place in Budapest from 22 to 25 March 2012. In addition to discovering Budapest, the event will present the Cornell Hotel Summit IV, a high-profile conference focusing on the strategic role of the School of Hotel Administration in the growth of the hospitality industry in CEE countries.
It is also about fun and plenty of networking opportunities with your fellow Cornellians! As you can see from the preliminary programme leaflet, we will split up in groups on Friday morning for insider city tours, followed by reunion lunches that will be hosted in various restaurants all over Budapest. The tours are guided, but we want to make it a bit less formal so you can catch up with your classmates.
To register for the event, please go to the "Links" tab and click on "EMEA Regional Meeting Registration"
We invite you to reserve your hotel room(s) directly with the hotel. Please also note that the deadline for hotel reservations is 15 February. Beyond that date, the hotels will no longer offer the attractive rates that we negotiated!
Contact for the Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace: budapest.reservations@fourseasons.com.
Contact for the art'otel: budapest@artotel.hu.
Please save the date, make sure to register, go ahead and book your rooms, and spread the word! Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly at christian.walter@pkfhotels.com.
Kind Cornell regards,
Christian Walter, PDP '08, Chapter President
PRESIDENT'S FALL 2011 LETTER
Dear Members of the CHS AlpAdria Chapter,
Just back from our "Strategic Leadership Retreat" in the beautiful hotel of CHS member Jakob Edinger, in Bavaria, let me present the new Chapter Officers: Secretary: Christophe Bergen; Treasurer: Tine Brodnjak; Communications Chairman pro tem: Hani El Sharkawi; Academic Development Chairman: Ivica Cacic; VP & Educational Program Chairman: Michael Widmann; Honorary Board Member: Arenda Weishaupt and President: Christian Walter.
I am very honored to serve you as President for a second term and wish to thank the outgoing Board Members for their commitment during the last year. Among others, we focused on developing new strategies to improve the quality and increase the number of “social networking” activities. It is quite a challenge to organize meetings out of the chapter office in Vienna. So, we are inviting “event initiators” to take on the challenge on a local level, where Cornell alumni are present. We will act as “event facilitators” and help members to organise events, providing them with contact data and posting events on the CHS website and on facebook. If you are ready to get involved, please let us know!
Last month, the CHS Board officially assigned us to provide a home for and support SHA grads residing/working in Eastern Europe and Ukraine! So, there's lots of fun networking ahead for all of us! We are now challenged to adapt our Chapter name and I invite you to send us your proposals by November 15, 2011. The Board will then select the most suitable name, and send it to the CHS Board for approval.
If you have not received the invitation to the joint holiday event of the Cornell Club of Switzerland and the CHS AlpAdria Chapter in the vicinity of Zurich on November 26, please let me know! Don’t wait too long to respond to Christophe Zimmerli, President of the Cornell Club of Switzerland, seating is limited!
Cornell regards, Christian
